Jim MacKay for Leander ISD - Place 5

Working Hard For You

"Believe you can and you’re halfway there."

Leander ISD Candidate  -           Jim MacKay

My name is Jim MacKay, and I'm committed to making your voice heard.  I am seeking your vote for a place on the Leander ISD Board of Trustees this November. I have lived in Cedar Park for more than four years and have been a strong advocate for our community, our teachers and our children.

I currently serve in the United States Air Force Reserves on active duty status as a Military Training Instructor (Drill Sergeant). I have the amazing and humbling responsibility of transforming young men and women into tomorrow's leaders. I am proud of the job that I do and even prouder of the Airmen I lead through seven and a half weeks of Basic Military Training.

Prior to being activated to military duty I served as a firefighter and medical first-responder for the Texas Air National Guard. As a civilian I work as a Regional Sales Manager in the Public Safety sector.

For more than three years I have maintained "Our Leander ISD - Facts and Analysis" Facebook page; providing insight, analysis, opinion and discussion regarding important topics related to managing our District. While some have called me a "watchdog" I would rather be seen as the person willing to ask the important and sometimes uncomfortable questions that no one else seems willing to ask. Areas of continued concern for me include debt, safety, innovation, teacher support, bullying and most importantly open, honest and effective communication between residents and their elected officials.

If you share my vision, I urge you to connect with me and help make it happen! Together, we can make a meaningful difference -- for our families, our communities, and our country.
